MBSR

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a structured complementary medicine program that uses mindfulness techniques aimed at relieving pain and improving the physical and emotional well-being of individuals suffering from a variety of diseases or disorders although it has also been used in healthy subjects. Created by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine.

The basis of MBSR is the practice of mindfulness, defined by its creator as "moment-to-moment attention to the present experience, without making judgments and with an attitude of acceptance." The practice of this technique aims to teach the mind to pay attention to the present, postulating that reducing worries about the past and the future can help increase acceptance and decrease stress.
